Alright y'all, I’m super excited with the way this DIY project turned out and happy to share the tutorial with the rest of you so you can create something fabulous too! When I first saw this pretty piece of live edge wood at an estate sale, I racked my brain for what it could be used for because I just had to have it. Thankfully, it was the perfect size for a piano bench, which it just so happened that we needed a shorter one because the one with our piano was not original and it was WAY too tall - it barely slid underneath so there was no room for your legs when playing.
To back up a bit, we received an old Hardman Duo player piano for free when we moved into our current home back in June. It’s still in need of a good tuning, plus the player part needs to be fixed. I also decided that I wanted to refinish it to spruce it up a bit, and it was clear that it needed a bench that was the correct height.
